A Glimpse of Summer Wanderings

So I am feeling a bit nostalgic for last summer, Alex and I went to some pretty spectacular places and now that we are back in California it has been a little tough adjusting to the idea that we cannot just take off for a weekend and see a new country. So to assuage my nostalgia I thought I would post some pictures from our past summer adventures and dream a little about new places to go. Maybe a quick stop at the beach or Tahoe this weekend? Who knows where summer can take us!
So we started summer a little early with a little weekend trip to Brussels for Alex’s Birthday
And then from there we went on a little work trip (well work for me) and spent the day in the Tuscany Countryside, there is nothing better than Tuscan food and wine.
And then from there we stayed in Rome for a bit and explored the city. The keyhole was one of those places that I had always wanted to visit and we found time that summer. The keyhole is this little keyhole in the piazza of the Knights of Malta which, when you look through it, you can see the Vatican perfectly framed. It is a lovely place to visit and there is a sweet little orange garden you can visit as well that has expansive views of the city.

This was the best picture I could get through the Keyhole and you can see the Vatican perfectly framed
And then we went to Croatia. I had been dreaming of going to a music festival in Europe since I first studied abroad and Alex and I finally went to one in Croatia. It was such a great opportunity to explore the little towns of Croatia and be exposed to some awesome music, especially Riot Jazz. We will definitely tell you more about our experiences there, it was a weekend I won’t forget!
After the Music Festival we ended up in Split, Croatia. This city is perhaps one of my favorites because the town is literally built into the ancient ruins of Emperor Diocletian’s palace, the Roman Emperor who stepped down from power to plant cabbages.
So after we got back from Split we began to prepare to move back to the states but we decided we could not leave Europe without going to Thessaloniki one more time, we are seriously addicted to that town.
And then we returned to the states and ended our summer with a little trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
So there was probably one of the most eventful and crazy summers I have had in a long time. I love looking back on all the adventures I have had and of course cannot wait to look forward and plan more to come. Any of you have great summer plans? We would love to hear them!
