A Glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge

Alex and I are leaving soon but before we leave we have been trying to see more of Northern California on our weekends. The other day as we were driving home from San Francisco, we realized that neither one of us had walked the Golden Gate Bridge before. We looked at each other and made a split second decision to walk it at that moment. I pulled into the Vista Point exit, grabbed my camera and we were ready to go.
It was an absolutely gorgeous day in February, around 70 degrees, and clear. We had a crystal clear view of the City and the Bay Bridge as well, not to mention Sausalito and Tiburon. I was shocked by how noisy it was (because its not a freeway or anything…) and at first I was not that thrilled about the walk but eventually I tuned out the cars and it was a gorgeous walk.
If you have a chance when you visit San Francisco to walk the bridge I would highly recommend it. It is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon and there are amazing views (obviously, it is a bridge over the San Francisco Bay….). I think the next time we would like to bike the bridge and head into Sausalito or Tiburon because there are some amazing restaurants in these towns and then you can take the ferry back to the City!
I am so glad that we are starting to explore our backyard, while we are anxious to get on the road there is so much to see here in Northern California. If we are not going to be back for 6 years then we have to explore now before we leave!
Great photos! I’m sad to say I didn’t get a chance to walk across the windy bridge, guess it’s just an excuse to return!
Absolutely! It only took me 27 years!
