July Wrap Up and Our Top 5 Instagrammers of the Month

So once again, how is this month over??? I feel like I will be asking that every month but it is true! This month seemed to go by crazy fast and I can’t believe that we are leaving Barcelona in just 5 short days!  We have absolutely loved our time here getting to live like locals for a bit.  This was absolutely the perfect time to settle down, reflect on our travels and reevaluate what we want to get out of this trip.  And the conclusion is that we are slooooooowwwwwing down, way down in fact.  None of this, “in a place for a weekend only” (except for when my sister comes!) and instead we are planning on settling in places now for two to three months.  We just feel that we can’t really get to know a place without living the life a little.

So what does that mean for In Pursuit of Adventure?  Well it means we will be in Croatia for the next three months!  For the first month we will be traveling around with my sister and we will be popping briefly into Slovenia and then we plan on settling somewhere in the Istrian peninsula.  For those of you who do not know where that is, it is the tiny heart shaped peninsula located in the northwest corner of Croatia and is very close to Slovenia and Italy.  It actually was once part of Italy up until WWII so hopefully our Italian language skills (What little we have retained thanks to Rosetta Stone by occasionally practicing.  Rosetta Stone is great, we just suck at actually using it….) will come in handy as we both know ZERO Croatian.

So that is what the future is looking like for us but lets take a little trip down instagram memory lane for the month of July Wrap Up.  We started the month out in Paris, you may recall, and were there until the 4th when we took a lovely 14 hour bus (!!!!) from Paris to Barcelona and of course it was 3 hours late….

Paris at night, in the summer is one of my favorite things, although this time around it was a little miserable since we were there smack dab in the middle of the most insane heat wave!  We survived with only minor heat stroke and grumpiness but Paris is still Paris so you can’t be mad, right??

The little things always manage to cheer me up anyways, especially when those little things are French macarons.

Also I believe the Musée Rodin is now my favorite spot in Paris. I got to indulge in my nerdy art side and see how these amazing works of art were created with their new exhibit with shows photographs of Rodin working in his studio plus plaster casts of the bronze pieces and drawings of the original ideas. The garden at the museum is where you can see all of Rodin’s emotional bronze pieces.  I probably could have stayed in the garden all day!

A summer in Paris wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the Tuileries and of course they had a ferris wheel there!  Thinking back on it I wish we had hopped on for a ride.  I bet the views would have been unbelievable!
And then it was time to say goodbye to Paris.  We unfortunately had to leave at 9pm on the 4th of July so we were unable to enjoy our strawberry daiquiris and crawfish at Red House fully but thanks to Edna from ExpatEdna we at least got a taste of the 4th of July!

And we were off to Barcelona!

And this was our first morning in Barcelona. It was in love at first sight and the affair has continued.

I have become obsessed with the details in this city. The other day I was walking around and took around 300 PHOTOS in about an hour! I have a detail obsession but when you find such amazing gems throughout this city, how could I not be?

Oh, and this place has stolen our hearts. Alex and I have eaten here more than anywhere else and the food is phenomenal. In addition to that, the atmosphere is everything you want out of a loud and crowded Spanish tapas bar plus the guys know us now so we always get served 🙂

You can’t come to Barcelona without getting swept up in the beauty of Antoni Gaudi but what I love most about his work is the small whimsical details. Even looking up at Parc Guell there is always something to capture your eye.

Hey! Look! More stunning work by Gaudi. We stumbled upon this while picnicking in Park De La Ciutadella the other day. Always love when you stumble upon something unexpected!

And we cannot forget about the ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS SUNSETS here in Barcelona. Almost every night we are treated to a stunning sunset but this one we caught the other night while hanging out on the beach in Barceloneta blew all the others away. When was the last time you saw the sky this cotton candy pink?

So that is what we have been up to all month. We clearly have fallen in love with Barcelona and are sad to see that our time is up here. Or is it….  We aren’t telling quite yet but it may be in the cards for us to return to this fantastic city!

And now on to our Top 5 Instagrammers of the Month! We love featuring other people’s instagram accounts because they inspire us so much and make us look for the beauty in the world. This is especially true with the people we are featuring this month! So much beauty in all of these instagram accounts!

Alex in Wanderland

Alex has been around for awhile now and I can’t imagine you have missed her photos on instagram BUT just in case you have we wanted to include her. Right now she is in the Caribbean and I just want to take off and join her, to hell with Spain….

Trippr Blog

We have been following Sandra and Dhanish of Trippr Blog for quite sometime and we were loving their photos from Portugal. And they have just made the move to London and we cannot wait to see what they get up to in their new city. If Portugal was any indication, we have some amazing photos to look forward to!

Gotta Keep Movin

Emma of Gotta Keep Movin has photos that always contain so much emotion. They always seem to grab me as I scroll down our instagram feed. I especially love her moody, atmospheric photos of England. If I didn’t hate the cold so much I would love to just be transported into her photos, ala Mary Poppins, to wrap up in a blanket, sip a cup of tea and watch those landscapes.

Paper Planes Blog

Alana from Paper Planes makes me want to return to Southeast Asia EVERY TIME I look at her photos. With glimpses of elephants, leafy ferns, and cool cafes I am instantly transported back to Asia and I get a little nostalgic for the time we spent in Asia back in 2013.

we12travel

Anto and Martijn are all about outdoors adventures especially hiking and camping. While I may not be the biggest outdoors person I am always inspired by their photos and everything they are up to, especially right now as they are in Alaska! Also check out their guest post here all about Utah.

So there we have it, our Top 5 Favorite Instagrammers for the month. Did we miss your favorite? Or yourself? We are always open to discovering new instagrammers and bloggers so leave your handle in the comments and we will check it out!

And now on to August!
