June Wrap Up and Our Top 5 Favorite Instagrammers of the Month
We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
How can June be over? I feel like Alex and I just started our trip not that long ago with a drive across the US but in fact it has been 71 days since we left our home in Healdsburg! 71 DAYS!! Seems crazy, right? Well since we have been on the move so much since we started this trip we thought that we should start doing monthly round ups for those of you who don’t religiously read every post of ours (I am talking to you Mom 🙂 ) and the best way to do that would be through Instagram. I have been using Instagram almost every day since we started this trip and has really become an accurate record of where we have been and what we have been doing (along with Snapchat as well but that is more us acting like fools; if you would like to see that you can follow us at @PursuitAdventur). Instagram is also fantastic because you also get to browse other’s absolutely stunning photos. So we may be a bit selfish by highlighting our photos, we also would like to share our top 5 favorite Instagrammers of the month as well!
It is truly amazing to think of how far we have come already: from viewing a sunrise over the red rocks of Sedona, a Segway tour in Little Rock, eating our way through New Orleans, snorkeling Silfra in Iceland, visiting Camden Lock in London, drinking our way through Scotland, bumming around Haarlem and experiencing Dutch life. And it has only been 71 days; imagine how many amazing things we can do with another 71? Another 6 years?
But without further ado here are our favorite Instagram photos from our trip so far!
Disneyland is a place that we have always loved and I couldn’t imagine a better way to begin our trip. I always feel like I have been transported back to my childhood when I am there and it was great to be able to spend our weekend there with my family and Alex’s family. A perfect place to begin 🙂
Joshua Tree was one of the more frustrating parts of our trip in the beginning, simply because the map took us out into the middle of the desert instead of to the national park. Lesson learned not to trust Siri and at least we were still able to see some beautiful Joshua Trees!
There is NOTHING like seeing the Grand Canyon in person! Really, they should rename it the “Canyon So Big that Calling it Grand Doesn’t Even Come Close to Describing the Immensity of it”. It may be a little more wordy but at least it should prepare you more for how huge it is! The Grand Canyon was definitely a highlight of our drive cross country and what made it even better is that we drove along it as we were leaving and got to see a totally different side to it. (Still HUGE though!)
Arkansas, as we have already said, was the biggest surprise on our road trip. We had absolutely no expectations and we were blown away. It was absolutely gorgeous and filled with serene dense forests. I can see Arkansas as one of the ultimate places to get away from everything.
Ah, The Carousel Bar in New Orleans…. While this video still makes me a bit dizzy, as did the bar, I will forever hold fond memories of the sazeracs and the gentleman in the pencil thin mustache.
DC was another favorite stop, not only to see old friends but to truly enjoy our nation’s capital and by that I mean eating and drinking as much as humanly possible. Oh ya, and seeing a few monuments!
Truly the best cure for a long plane ride is The Blue Lagoon. Yes, it is pricey and touristy but it also is one of the best memories I have from Iceland. Just make sure you buy tickets ahead of time, unlike us….
I think the landscape is what intrigued me the most about Iceland. It is ever changing and as you drive the country you get to see so much diversity in this small country. Add the fact that it is slowly expanding thanks to Silfra and the volcanoes could change the landscape at any moment I feel that every visit must be different and we certainly plan on going back!
Then there was that one time I wore a white dress while climbing an ancient volcano in Scotland, enough said.
Holland was just stupidly quaint. Everywhere I turned there was a building, a canal or a bicycle I wanted to photograph but what grabbed me the most was this library in the Rijksmuseum. Why am I not scholarly and busy spending all my days here? I want to be Belle from Beauty and the Beast!
Cheese! How could we NOT go to a festival about cheese?
And then we went to Antwerp, Belgium and had literally no expectations. What we found was a yearly Latin street market and this cocktail bar. I could have spent the rest of our trip money here, seriously, the cocktails were that good! Plus look at their menu!
And now we are in Paris and she treated us to this lovely view right after dinner. How can you not fall in love with this city??
So we are all caught up and on Saturday we head to the land of sunshine, tapas and cava AKA BARCELONA!!! We will be spending a full month in this city in order to really get to know it and I promise lots of Instagram photos of us eating and drinking delicious things 😉 So don’t forget to follow us at @InPursuitofAdventure
And if you need more Instagram inspiration check out our favorite instagrammers of the month!
Adriana from Changing Plate
Adriana is one of my favorite people to follow on instagram mainly because her food photos are just so incredibly beautiful! They make me want to settle down at a Bavarian farm like she has and just cook all day. But as that may not happen anytime soon I can at least cook her wonderful recipes!
Stephanie of Lady of the Zoos
Stephanie is a travel blogger and is just as passionate about wildlife as she is for travel. Her instragram is a wonderful mix of these two passions and even though we just left Edinburgh her photos are making us want to return ASAP!
Emily of EmilyLuxton.co.uk
Emily is a travel blogger and house sitter from the UK. Not only does she have an amazing instagram profile but she also runs two blogs; the eponymous EmilyLuxton.co.uk and BackpackSouthAmerica.com. Her most recent photos from Thessaloniki have us dreaming of returning to our favorite city in Greece!
Kristin and Shadi of Vacation Couple
These two Toronto based travel bloggers have WAAYYY TOO MUCH FUN! And make me want to travel with them and join in on the fun. Seriously, it looks like they have the time of the time of their life in all of their photos. Maybe we should all just stop everything and join in on their vacations!
Lizzie from Adventure Your Ass Off
Lizzie’s instagram almost makes me want to return home, strange as that may sound. She is based in Reno/Tahoe and her instagram is filled with wonderful photos of the West Coast and Tahoe. We were only able to make it up to Tahoe once while we were living in Healdsburg and I wish we had taken advantage of this beautiful place more!
So there you have it; what we have been up to and our favorite instagrammers this month! We just love being inspired by everyone’s photos so if you want to, leave your instagram handle in the comments! And we can’t wait to share more of our adventure with you!
So funny you’re going to be in Barcelona for a month — we’re headed there in a couple weeks! Look forward to reading some tips from you. And see you in Paris tonight!
